SAPC (South Auckland Poets Collective) Tour
November 19 - 21, 2010
Who are SAPC?
South Auckland Poets Collective (SAPC) is a group of young Pacific Island and Maori writers from all areas of South Auckland (Manukau City). SAPC have been collaborating since November 2007. Armed with their voices and notebooks they cast down negative stereotypes of youth in South Auckland portrayed by the media with a new and positive story.
SAPC are going on tour!
Taking spoken word poetry to the halls, streets and community of Wellington. We have an upcoming weekend tour planned for Wellington in collaboration with the PTown Poets Society from Porirua November 19th - 21st, which will be:
- Friday, November 19 the Collective will be performing and running workshops in a High School
- Saturday, November 20 we have a special midday spot at the wonderful Te Papa Museum, with our main collaborative show with PTown Poets Society in the evening.
- Sunday, November 21 we will be workshopping with PTown Poets on current and new works.
We have nearly covered all our costs for flights, accomodation, travel and food through performance fees, gigs and sales from our book and DVD "Something Worth Reading?" but still have some more funds to raise.
What is the book & DVD?
This book/dvd is a collection of their works from over the last 2 years. This book publication “Something Worth Reading?” is accompanied with a DVD, which contains a short film of the group performing some of these poetry and gives an insight into their world and the paths that they walk. Funded by Creative New Zealand.
We only need to sell 45 of our books to make our Welly tour happen and completely self funded. You can be part of the SAPC journey to Wellington by purchasing a copy of "Something Worth Reading?"
ALL money from sales will go into our Welly tour funds.
