This year's Pacific Thought Symposium will be held in Waitakere City, New Zealand this coming March. The thematic of the symposium is Le Manogi: Fragrance. Keynote address will be given by The Samoa Head of State His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese. Also speaking in the program will be other leading Pacific academics and artists. The Pacific Thought Symposium will close with a performance by Lemi Ponifasio / MAU at MAU, Corban Estate following the Civic Reception hosted by Mayor Bob Harvey for His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese.

Inaugurated at the MAUForum 2006, the Pacific Thought Symposium was initiated and convened by Sala Lemi Ponifasio, and academics Leaaliifano Albert Refiti and Dr. Hufanga Oukusitino Mahina. The Pacific Thought Symposium gathers the community, artists, scholars, elders and students in critical dialogue on thoughts and practices of Pacific cultures. Organised by Lemi Ponifasio / MAU and this symposium is a major event of the MAUForum.
